At Pop-Up Adventure Play, we’re always looking ahead with excitement. Whether you’re just discovering playwork or have been part of our journey for years, we’re here to support play advocates and communities worldwide. Play continues to grow across the globe and we’re thrilled to be part of that movement.
Looking back: Playwork milestones
Over the years, we’ve launched exciting initiatives to expand playwork’s impact worldwide. From hosting playworker development courses to collaborating with international organisations, our mission has always been to create more opportunities for child-led play.
Some of our most memorable collaborations include working with Vivo in Canada on creative and engaging play initiatives and supporting Ana Rita and her team in Portugal, who brought fantastic play opportunities to local schools.
We also co-hosted the Prioritising Play Conference in Champaign-Urbana, IL. Organised alongside KOOP Adventure Play, providing a platform for play advocates to connect and share knowledge.
These initiatives have shaped our journey so far, but we remain focused on growing playwork even further in the years to come.
Expanding playwork across borders
We travel to incredible places, connecting with passionate advocates committed to creating play spaces in their communities. We frequently collaborate with educators, organisations, and policymakers to bring playwork principles to new regions. If you’re looking to develop play spaces or need guidance on playwork, we’d love to hear from you.
Training and education
Education is at the heart of what we do. Our playworker development course provides hands-on training for those looking to deepen their understanding of playwork. Ongoing cohorts and collaborations with institutions worldwide provide always an opportunity to get involved.
We also work closely with universities and organisations to enhance professional development in playwork. If you’re interested in learning more, be sure to check out our latest course offerings and resources.
While growing these initiatives, Morgan and I were also completing our PhDs, balancing our studies with our commitment to mentoring and supporting play advocates globally.
Playwork events and conferences
We’re always involved in events that celebrate playwork and its impact. One of the highlights in our calendar is the Playwork Campference, an event dedicated to bringing together play advocates, practitioners and researchers.
Additionally, we collaborate with international partners to host workshops, panels, and online sessions that explore playwork’s evolving role. Keep an eye on our social media for the latest event announcements.
Looking ahead: What’s next for playwork?
As playwork continues to grow, we remain dedicated to supporting advocates and expanding opportunities for play worldwide. Our focus is on creating new partnerships, training more playworkers and championing child-led play wherever possible.
We’d love for you to be part of this movement! Follow us on Facebook, X and Instagram, join a training program or reach out to explore how we can support your playwork initiatives. Let’s make every year a year of play!
