Greetings from the Pop-Up Adventure Play and Special Guests Tour! We’re thrilled to share the highlights of our journey across the USA, a trip filled with passion for play and exciting encounters.
In March 2014, we embarked on a remarkable adventure, crisscrossing the United States in a vibrant little yellow car. The journey encompassed four time zones and involved three enthusiastic playworkers, with two main drivers navigating the roads.

The halfway mark of our journey was a significant milestone. From the Berkshire Museum to the vast Bernheim Arboretum, we witnessed the power of play and met remarkable individuals dedicated to fostering it. Each stop exceeded our expectations and fueled our passion for sharing the importance of playwork.
3. On The Road 2014: Special Guest Number 3 (Apr 4, 2014) Author: Morgan
In Philadelphia, we were joined by Erin Davis, our third special guest. Erin’s involvement and expertise, highlighted by her documentary on adventurous play, added a new dimension to our tour. Our special guests brought unique perspectives, enriching our discussions and inspiring communities to embrace the magic of play.
Throughout our journey, we saw a shift in attitudes toward play in the United States. The initial skepticism about implementing adventurous play gradually transformed into a desire to learn “how.” We showcased thriving play sites and shared success stories, encouraging communities to find their own ways to prioritise play.
Team Pop-Up Adventure Play held a 2 month tour around the USA. See our images from the tour as we spread the joy of play along the way.
